The Density Scaling app scales the density of selected bodies at the environment level by a factor, average density or total mass.

Key Benefits

The Density Scaling app lets you modify the mass in a selected analysis without editing the Engineering Data by specifying a new mass, density, or factor for a selected set of bodies. To adjust the mass properties, you no longer must break the link and have duplicate models.

Use Cases

In structural static and dynamic analyses, the total mass and mass distribution is important to get correct reaction forces, displacements, and stresses. The limitation with Ansys Mechanical is that mass can be added using a point mass or distributed mass in the Geometry group but you cannot remove mass. The defined mass is also the same for all linked analyses.
