The SMART Crack Growth Advanced Pre/Postprocessing App provides easy access to some of SMARTs advanced capabilities and streamlines detailed postprocessing, including the capability of creating a 3D plot showing all crack fronts of all crack growth increments at once and marking the max SIF location.

SMART Crack Growth has largely matured since its initial introduction in R19.0 and is valued by our customers for its great Ease-Of-Use especially of its basic functionalities. To allow for a broad adoption, this SMART Crack Growth Advanced Pre/Postprocessing App provides easy access to some of SMARTs advanced capabilities and streamlines detailed postprocessing. In the preprocessing, the app e.g.

• allows to set the contour used for SMART evaluation,
• provides Crack Increment Size control and Crack Growth Stop Criteria,
• allows to use Crack Face Contact and Nonproportional Loading. In the postprocessing, the app e.g.
• generates Fracture Probes for multiple locations along the crack front,
• creates APDL plots of Fracture Parameters along the crack front for all crack increments,
• creates APDL plots of the evolution and position of maximum SIF values over number of crack increments,
• saves crack parameters along crack front to a txt file for each crack increment,
• plots all crack fronts of all crack growth increments into the 3D model and marks the middle position or the max SIF position in each crack growth increment.
