App Description

The toolkit guides users through a complete radar simulation workflow:

Geometry import: Load 3D models in STL, OBJ, GLTF, or GLB formats directly into HFSS and the built-in 3D plotter.

Radar configuration: Define the incident wave direction using Euler (ZYZ) angles and select the simulation mode (Range Profile, 2D ISAR, or 3D ISAR).

Solver setup: Configure SBR+ solver parameters such as ray density, number of bounces, CPU cores, PTD/UTD corrections, and interactive/non-graphical execution.

3D postprocessing: Visualize RCS, range profiles, waterfall diagrams, 2D ISAR, and 3D ISAR results in an interactive 3D viewer powered by PyVista.

2D postprocessing: Generate and customize 2D plots for RCS, range profiles, waterfall, and ISAR data, with support for multiple plots per tab.

File mode: Reload previous simulation results from exported analysis setup files without reconnecting to AEDT.

Key Benefits

End-to-end workflow: Covers the full pipeline from CAD import to final postprocessed plots in a single unified interface.

No scripting required: All simulation and postprocessing operations are accessible through a guided graphical UI.

HFSS SBR+ accuracy: Leverages Ansys's proven shooting-and-bouncing-rays solver for high-frequency electromagnetic accuracy on electrically large targets.

Flexible postprocessing: Supports both 2D and 3D visualization with customizable colormaps, opacity, and projection settings.

Reusability: Export and reload analysis setup files to resume or share work without re-running simulations.

Open source: Licensed under Apache 2.0 and distributed through the PyAnsys ecosystem for community contributions and extensibility.

Use Cases

RCS analysis: Compute and visualize the Radar Cross-Section of military or commercial targets (vehicles, aircraft, ships) across angular sweeps.

ISAR imaging: Generate 2D and 3D inverse synthetic aperture radar images of moving or rotating targets for target recognition research.

Range profile characterization: Identify dominant scattering centers along the radar line of sight for signature analysis.

Waterfall diagrams: Analyze how the radar return evolves over time or aspect angle for dynamic target scenarios.

Design comparison: Duplicate and modify solved HFSS SBR+ designs to compare the radar signature before and after geometry or material changes.

Offline analysis: Post-process previously computed results in file mode, independently of an active AEDT session.
